For those who have listen to Rob’s latest interview on Neil Delamere’s Sunday Best (previous update, listen) we know that his newest project Mortal has been planned to start filming in Norway in late July!
With more news coming forward, we now know that Rob will be play Eric; a young Norwegian/American who discovers he has super powers he can neither control nor understand.
Sheehan (Mortal Instruments:City of Bones) plays the young Norwegian/American Eric who has been hiding in the mountains in Western Norway for three years after surviving a traumatic incident. He discovers he has super powers he can neither control nor understand. With the help of a young female psychologist, he manages to unknot his own story linked to Norse mythology.
Øvredal who came up with the idea and wrote the script says he has always been inspired by Norse mythology. “I think the Nordic audience in particular is going to enjoy this film and I can’t wait to start filming,” he said. Nordisk Film Norway’s John Einar Hagen is producing together with Kon-Tiki producer Aage Aaberge, US producer Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik as well as Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken of London-based management and production company 42. Ingenious Media is co-financing and Nordisk Film handle Scandinavian distribution.
John Einar Hagen told nordicfilmandtvnews.com that he hopes to raise regional funding as most of the film will be shot in the west coast of Norway, with a Norwegian crew. “Besides the main character Eric the cast is primarily Norwegian. It’s a Norwegian film with a great concept appealing to an international audience”, he added.
Sales company IM Global is starting to pitch the project in Cannes. Filming is set to start in the fall.
